As per the listing, the Redmi Note 5 will come with a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display with a 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution and an unusual 18:9 aspect ratio which invariably means that the phone will be taller rather than wider, and hence come with a nearly edge-to-edge screen. The phone is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clubbed with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. It will run Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 and backed by a 4,000mAh battery.

On the camera front, the Redmi Note 5 is said to come with a 12-megapixel camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel camera on the front.

There have been rumours that there will be two versions of the Redmi Note 5, one with a MediaTek processor for China and another with a Qualcomm processor for markets like India. While Xiaomi may chose to launch the MediaTek version by the end of this year, a Qualcomm-based version may happen sometime early next year.
